Library Humor.

Just for the fun of it. I'll probably take this down after tonight as I do believe the legality of posting a clip like this on YouTube is in question. Is it fair use? Since it hasn't been taken down, is it okay to assume the owner of the content is okay with it being online? The logical side of me says that it probably is illegal while the selfish side of me wants to be able to enjoy clips whenever possible.

In honor of tonight's class: Mr. Bean at the Library

I do love Mr. Bean. My paper is on copyright and "fair use" so I couldn't resist commenting. According to Copyright Essentials for Librarians and Educators by Kenneth D. Crews, there are four major issues to consider when applying fair use: 1)Purpose of the Use. Is it for non profit educational purposes? 2)Nature of the Work. Nonfiction is usually favored over fiction. 3)Amount of Substantiality. The shorter the excerpt, the better. 4)Effect on the Market. Limiting access is a good thing.
